AMC Newtonmore 2026 Trip Report
People will tell you to bring your waterproofs for winter climbing in Scotland, but we saw no need! Beyond the odd drizzle or spindrift shower, AMC members enjoyed a week in the Scottish sun, with temps just below freezing on the summits and a mostly stable snowpack, conditions were looking friendly!! Staying in the Craigelachie cottage in Newtonmore we had members with a range of Scottish winter experience, from first season ever to 20th+. Below are some photos and stories f

Border Hopping in the Alps
Mon Viso by moonlight Back in 2022 Lisa (your secretary) broke her ankle in about the worst way you can, while climbing in Chamonix. Its been a long hard road with multiple operations but the trip that follows is a true return and surpassing of previous form for her and healing for us both. 2025 weather wasn't on our side for trips, so much so we switched up the Cuillin for Norfolk. We were therefore both keen to get something done before close of the summer. The decision w

Matterhorn Madness!
Pano on the summit of the Matterhorn A group of us had set our sights on climbing the Matterhorn this year, an idea sparked after completing the Royal Traverse and summiting Mont Blanc. As plans evolved, only Rich and I remained, undeterred and ready to take on the Italian route via the Lion’s Ridge. Slightly harder than the Swiss side and less crowded, it offered a more adventurous experience. We flew into Milan and drove to Cervinia, staying at Camping Glair , a peaceful s

Sun, Sea and Sends; Cornwall 2025
Once again the club headed off to the St Just campsite to saviour the delights that the Cornish coast has to offer. It felt like everyone really pushed themselves on this trip and managed to tick off some impressive routes. I have tried to collect them all here but apologies if have missed off someone's route. All the pictures are in the August in pictures file for people to see. However I have added a few on here. Thursday night saw myself and Liv head down early to miss the

Swanage Trip 6th April
Swanage is best know for its tidal trad, which due to Storm Kathleen causing large swells it was going to be tricky. The majority opted for the in-land crags, with a few of us abseiling into the few dry lines available. With the wet weather causing the campsites to delay opening the Swanage trip almost failed before it began. Thankfully some last minute booking of the YHA allowed it to go ahead and with the added bonus of a roof over our heads! The first day saw us head to H
