Box Bay Day Meet 10th May 2025

Updated: May 14

With a promising forecast and a low tide hitting right around midday, Box Bay set the stage for a brilliant day out on the South Wales coast. A solid turnout of 15 club members made the most of the conditions. Kevser had a particularly strong day, steadily building her confidence on lead with two solid VDiff routes — Left Corner and Can't Run, Can't Climb. Meanwhile, Maciej and James decided to take on a self-imposed challenge: tick off as much of the crag as possible before the tide returned. From classic severes to the more technical E1 lines, the two of them were constantly on the move, scrambling between routes with impressive energy.

Over on Jack’s Noisy Squealing (S), Lucy made things interesting with her self-imposed "hand jam only" ascent. The technique questionable, but the commitment was undeniable. Those watching weren’t sure whether to laugh or take notes, but either way, it was memorable. In the midst of all this, Adam quietly tackled one of the day’s tougher routes with a confident lead of Stone Washed (E1 5b), quickly pulling through steep ground to the top.

After the ropes were packed and the tide began licking at the base of the crag, a few of us made our way to nearby Rest Bay for a quick post-climb swim. The water was chilly but refreshing. We then wrapped things up at The Swan Inn, making plans for the upcoming trips to the lakes, Chamonix and more!
