Aiguille Dibona

A long held ambition to climb the classic “Face Sud Classique” aka “Voie Berthet/Boell/Stofer” on the mighty Aiguille Dibona 3131m. First climbed by Angelo Dibona in 1913 and although of modest height, the Dibona has inspired generations of climbers and is surely one of the most beautiful and spectacular mountains in Europe! 🙂

The Staffordshire Nose

A blood sacrifice at the altar of Brown and Whillans Every climber has heard of The Nose. Perhaps the most iconic route there is, often dreamt of, much aspired-to, but unfortunately also a bloody long way from Bristol. So we devise our own challenges, closer to home. Girdle traverses are a favourite, maintaining the feeling […]

South Pembrokeshire Trip

The trip went very well and the Met Office forecast of rain was completely wrong, the only problem we had was dealing with sunburn. Any a great hit on Church Rock through the use of Kayaks was claimed along with various parties climbing at St Govans head, Flimson and Bow shaped slabs, a lot of […]

A delightful day out at one of Dartmoor’s finest venues, namely The Dewerstone in South West Devon, on one of the crag classics called “Central Groove” which is surely one the best climbs of it’s grade at Hard Severe in the UK. Set in the magical ancient wooded valley of Shaugh Prior by the babbling […]

The numbers were raised to 19 by additions from the Scotland Branch of the AMC, and an unexpected, yet welcome arrival of a club member who just happened to be […]

Phil Orwell and Becky Bagnall arrived the night before and stayed in the local camp site, while Dave and Sharon Beynon stayed with friends in Abergavenny. Due to a lack of […]

Bantham Hand

A smash and grab raid of the esoteric, but photogenic sea stack called the “Bantham Hand” in Bigbury Bay, near Plymouth in South Devon. To descend from the stack and for maximum entertainment, you can indulge yourself with your partner in the dark arts of a simultaneous abseil. Go on you know you want to… […]

Brecon Beacons Trip, Christmas 2013

As organiser of our AMC festive trip, I here begin the report: (Although, in fairness to Chris, he was really the person who found the bunk house and therefore pretty much organised it anyway. I guess I did the silly part of festive fun.) So, without further ado… The trip really begins at Temple Meads […]
